I know there exists already a plugin for Open Office Writer written by sun. But the problem there is that you cannot merge multiple docs.

One option for Word and Excel docs in the free add-in for Office from Microsoft that adds Save As PDF to the menu. This works very well, with Word headings being turned into PDF bookmarks and so on.

Otherwise I'd recommend PDF Creator which installs itself as a printer on Windows. You can also use PDFCreator to merge several documents into a single PDF by collecting several prints using the Wait - Collect button and then saving them a single PDF.

I don't understand what you mean by PDF/A.. Do you just mean Adobe?

Anyway, I have used Bullzip PDF Printer for years now and love it!

I've used CutePDF writer for a while now, and I havn't had any troubles yet. I prefer to use the Save-to-PDF Addin (as suggested by Dave Webb) for my Office files though- less hassle.

I suggest you to follow the methods below:

Method 1:

a. Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

c. Select Add a printer.
d.Select Add a local printer.
e.Check Use an existing port and select Documents*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down. Click Next
f.Click the Have Disk… button.
g.Click the Browse… button.
h.Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAcrobat 10.0AcrobatXtrasAdobePDF
i.Select AdobePDF.inf from the list if using Acrobat Pro, or AdobePDFstd.inf if using Acrobat Std, then click the OK button
j.You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next (you may need to try this numerous times to find the correct Converter from the list that works with your version of Windows)

k.Name your printer, e.g. Adobe PDF

Uninstall and reinstall adobe printer driver
Refer the steps below to uninstall device driver:

1. Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start search box and hit ENTER.
2. Locate printer driver and expand the same.
3. Right-click on adobe printer driver and click on Uninstall button to uninstall the driver associated with the device.
4. Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
